The deal is for 30 percent of the storage and information management firm’s North American footprint. The press release says that Iron Mountain is purchasing two-thirds of the facility. That is expected to provide the company with long-term rate stability and annual utility savings of $50,000. The deal will generate as much as 20 percent of the energy used in Iron Mountain’s new datacenter business and, more broadly, for its mid-Atlantic operations. That region current uses 80,000 MW of electricity annually, according to the company.

Last month, Invenergy said that it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to provide 120 MW of wind power to 3M.
