CoolSys, a parent of refrigeration and HVAC companies, has acquired Axiom Energy Solutions, a provider of energy efficient equipment and technology solutions. The acquisition will allow CoolSys to offer the resources and capabilities of Axiom’s energy efficiency solutions in conjunction with CoolSys Energy Solutions’ energy optimization services to bring customers enhanced energy optimization.
Axiom builds customized solutions for companies across a range of industries – including supermarkets, non-food retail, convenience stores, hospitality, healthcare and education – to address their energy, sustainability and compliance needs. By combining resources with CoolSys Energy Solutions, Axiom will be able to “provide our customers with an even broader set of solutions and expand our market presence,” says Axiom founder Anthony Tippins.
Last summer, CoolSys Energy Optimization performed engineering work for a Sacramento area Whole Foods Market that resulted in a 31% reduction in energy usage, the company said. Not only did the market reduce its overall carbon footprint, but $225,000 in Sacramento Municipal Utility District rebates are contributing to their overall energy cost reduction, CoolSys says.
The improvements made to air conditioning, refrigeration and lighting are estimated to provide energy savings of 659,700 kWh per year. CoolSys Energy Optimization worked to upgrade and replace parts of the Whole Foods store’s refrigeration and HVAC system including the addition of energy management software and sensors that will continue to help regulate the store’s energy usage, according to the provider.
The company says its typical reduction of energy costs is between 15% and 26%, with an ROI of two to three years.
