Defense Department Deploys Fuel Cells

The Department of Defense (DOD) deployed a 1.6 MW Bloom Energy installation at the NSA Campus, located on Fort Meade, Md.

The fuel cells generate power on-site, eliminating the need for electrical transmission from the grid and also eliminating the need for backup power. The prime contractor on the project is ARGO Systems headquartered in Hanover, Md.
