Gin Distillary Powers Guest Center with Hydro

ginThe Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke Mill in the United Kingdom re-commissioned a water turbine, harnessing the power of hydro energy to power the distillery’s visitor center.

With years of disuse, the former paper mill had fallen into disrepair, and its engine, the original water wheel, was long gone – only a big hole remained in its place. Retrofit teams reconditioned a suitable turbine, which is powered by hydro from the River Test.

The Laverstoke Mill campus also uses solar power. Bombay Sapphire is a Bacardi-owned brand. Across all its brands, Bacardi has already reduced nonrenewable energy use by 28 percent.
