Iron Mountain Beats Energy, Emissions Goals

iron mountainIron Mountain has published its Corporate Responsibility Report for last year.

The report says that the storage and information management company achieved a year-over-year energy use reduction of 12 percent. The goal going into the year was a 3 percent reduction. The company also reported that it reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 16.4 percent. This easily surpasses the goal, which was to break even for the year.

Iron Mountain also increased its use of renewable energy to 2.4 million kWh. This represented a six-fold increase, which was achieved by onsite solar installation and direct purchase of green power, according to the press release.

In March, Iron Mountain signed a 15-year wind power purchase agreement and bought into a wind turbine farm that is being constructed in Ringer Hill, PA.
