Urjanet’s Utility Data Platform offers companies and energy solutions providers automated utility data for energy management. The platform automatically aggregates utility data from more than 4,000 utility providers around the globe, helping energy and sustainability managers avoid having to collect and input utility bill and interval data from disparate utilities. The Urjanet platform supports the sustainability ecosystem from end users to consulting and software solutions providers. In addition, data delivery can be tailored to each end user’s needs, including integration with Energy Star Portfolio Manager, Tableau, Pure Sustainability, and other software applications.
Because no two utility providers collect, categorize, or charge in the same way, it’s nearly impossible to have a comprehensive view of data on consumption and waste, the company says. In response, Urjanet’s platform uses machine learning to automatically collect, standardize, and deliver bill data electronically across an energy manager’s entire portfolio. It constantly learns and improves as more providers are connected, and ensures accuracy through semantic and numeric audits.
Urjanet’s platform can extract over 100 data points from utility providers. Each bill collected undergoes a multi-stage evaluation. Everything from account level to meter-level usages and charges are validated against a series of standalone and contextual data quality audits. These audits are constantly updated to improve accuracy of the data delivered, the company says.
Access to the Urjanet Utility Data Platform is secured by a combination of network security and authentication requirements, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access. Sensitive data is stored encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. Data is transferred both inside and outside the platform using SSL/TLS, SSH, and SFTP.
End users of the Urjanet Utility Data Platform have seen significant reductions in energy consumption, the company reports. Cox Enterprises estimates a reduction in energy spend of up to 30% as a direct result of using Urjanet’s platform. The added visibility from the data feed translates into timelier, more effective decisions in a highly complex environment. It also allows Cox to evaluate more purchasing options and take advantage of more tailored energy products, further lowering costs and consumption.
Urjanet’s solution also supports Cox Conserves, the company’s national sustainability program, which aims to become carbon neutral by 2044. The granularity of data from Urjanet allows Cox to deliver subsidiary-level reports with carbon emissions figures and continuously measure progress against the company’s goals. With Urjanet’s platform, Cox can collect and analyze energy consumption data for the entire corporation, significantly reducing consulting fees for carbon audits.
