Dubai Emirates Towers Energy ManageEmpower recently connected Dubai’s Emirates Towers to its district cooling system. The Emirates Towers  consist of two of the tallest buildings in the world—the Emirates Office Tower (1,165 ft.) and Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel (1,014 ft.).

Empower’s district cooling system has a total capacity of 6,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT). The conversion from the Towers’ existing air cooled system to the district cooling system will result in energy savings of about 80 percent for the Jumeirah Group-owned property.

The new cooling system will utilize .90 kW of electricity per hour, compared to the property’s conventional cooling system, which required 1.7 kW of energy per hour.

The conversion from traditional cooling to district cooling for this capacity is the first of its kind in Dubai, Empower said.

The retrofit is the first phase of a 30,000 RT project that includes the renovation of cooling systems of retail, residential and commercial Jumeirah Group properties that includes Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management and Madinat Jumeirah.
