The U.S. Department of Defense announced on April 4 that it planned to conduct a microgrid demonstration under the auspices of the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) at Fort Custer Training Center in Augusta, Michigan, often used by the National Guard.

Asetek Participates in DoD Program, Opens Data Center Cooling Demo

The Department of Defense has selected Asetek’s ISAC (Inside Server Air Conditioning) liquid-cooling product to participate in its Transformative Reductions in Operational Energy Consumption (TROPEC) program.

TROPEC is a collaborative DoD and Department of Energy program that targets energy efficiency for critical applications at military forward operations such as data centers and communications.

Contracts: Combined Heat & Power; Energy Storage

Cogeneration company ENER-G has inked a deal with Rudox Engine & Equipment Company to design, develop, manufacture and install combined heat and power (CHP) systems from Rudox’s production facility in Carlstadt, N.J.

ENER-G group has invested in a 75 percent holding in Rudox, with existing Rudox owners, the Goodman family, retaining a 25 percent stake in the ENER-G Rudox company.

Italian Supercomputer Sets World Record for Energy Efficiency

Italy’s Eurora supercomputer (pictured), which uses Nvidia Tesla GPU accelerators based on Nvidia Kepler, has set a new record for data center energy efficiency, according to Nvidia.

The Eurora supercomputer, built by Eurotech and deployed at the Cineca facility in Bologna, Italy, reached 3,150 megaflops per watt of sustained performance, Nvidia says. This is 26 percent higher than the top system on the most recent Green500 list of the world’s most efficient supercomputers.
