Homer Electric Members Give ‘Cold Shoulder’ to Deregulation

Homer Electric Association (HEA) – which serves about 23,000 members on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula – will remain under the oversight of the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA), the agency which oversees the pricing practices of public utilities in Alaska announced on December 20 (Docket No. U-16-072/Order U-16-072[3]), according to a report by the local Peninsula Clarion.

Homer (Alaska) Electric Association’s 22,892 members are voting this month about whether their cooperative’s pricing practices will continue to be overseen by the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA), the state agency that regulates public utilities.
