Minnesota Capitol Complex to Use 33% Renewably Sourced Base Energy

Beginning May 16, through a pilot program between Minnesota and Xcel Energy, 33 percent of the base energy used at the State Capitol Complex in St. Paul will come from renewable sources.

Minnesota Power Applies Again for Lower Industrial Electric Rates

Minnesota Power filed a new rate plan on June 30 (Docket No. E015/M-16-564) with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC), designed to provide lower electric rates, the utility claims, “for up to a dozen northeastern Minnesota industrial companies that are uniquely exposed to global competitive pressures.”

Minnesota PUC to Consider Updating DER Interconnection Standards

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) announced on May 12 that it had joined with two other advocacy organizations – Fresh Energy and the Environmental Law & Policy Center – in filing a joint motion with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission asking for an update in the standards for distributed generation interconnection so that the state can “remain consistent with industry standards.”
